Of Chronicles 1–9 (and also 23-26), Ó Corráin said that in medieval Ireland, it provided the “sole literary model for detailed two-dimensional representation of peoples, dynasties and lineages, showing segmentation, eponyms, multiple lineage and sub-lineage founders, and their descendants, over many generations.”
